Steve Aoki
Steve Aoki was born on November 30,
1977, in Miami, Florida. American electro house music producer, D.J., and
record producer Steve Aoki is his stage name. Music executive. He is the third
child of Chizuru Kobayashi & Rocky Aoki. His father was a former
wrestler who also founded the chain of restaurants Benihana. There are two
siblings: sister Kana who is usually called Grace as her middle name Grace as
well as brother Kevin (owner of Doraku Sushi). His half-sister is Devon Aoki, a
model and actress. He was born in Newport Beach, California and graduated from
Newport Harbor High School, in which he was a part of the varsity badminton
club. After finishing his studies at UC Santa Barbara with a Bachelor of Arts
degree, he attended UC Santa Barbara. degrees, one of which was in feminist
studies, and the one in sociology. In college, he produced DIY records and ran
underground shows from his Biko room in the Santa Barbara Student Housing
Cooperative. The Pickle Patch was born as a concert venue. He was active in
student activism , and he founded the Revolutionary Anti-Imperialist League
section on campus. He was already running his own record label in the 20s. It
was called Dim Mak which was named after his childhood idol Bruce Lee. In March
2010 He dropped I'm in the House, a collaboration with the Zuper Blahq, the
alter-ego of The Black Eyed Peas singer will.i.am. It made it to the No. 29 on
the U.K. Singles Chart in its 1st week of release. The song was ranked in the
top 5 in both the U.K. Indie Chart and the U.K. Dance Chart. It was included in
MTV's Jersey Shore, as well as in the feature film Piranha and the trailer for
Think Like A Man. Producer-songwriter Lucas Secon confirmed in a May 2010
interview w/ HitQuarters, that he and Rivers Cuomo had recently worked with
Aoki on an album. The song was named the top-grossing American dance artist by
Pollstar in 2012. He has collaborated w/ artists such as Iggy Azalea, Afrojack,
LMFAO, Linkin Park, Will.i.am, Lil Jon, Blink-182, Laidback Luke, BTS, Louis Tomlinson,
Rise Against, Vini Vici & Fall Out Boy. He is well-known for his
remixes of artists including Kid Cudi.
